University of Miami student Christine Petrowski, finds her car crushed by a crane that fell Thursday in Coral Gables, near U.S. 1 and Southwest 57th Avenue. No one was hurt, but the 150-ton crane demolished the car. The crane, from Gold Coast of Hollywood, toppled when the road beneath it collapsed because of its weight. The accident also caused a water main to break, leaving nearby residents and businesses without water for most of the afternoon. A crane at a construction site near Corpus Christi fell onto a 345-kilovolt transmission line Wednesday afternoon, cutting off power to much of the Rio Grande Valley, Central Power and Light officials said.

The WLVI-TV headquarters, located at 75 Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester, was closed after a tower being erected in an adjoining lot collapsed on the building on August 4th. Amazingly, WLVI-TV was off the air for under an hour that day and has been operating throughout the cleanup!
